Ron drove in the final screws and they were finally ready to insert and attach the bottom.

4. Bottom and rockers: Ron predrilled holes into the cradle bottom so it was easier for Lynn to drive the screws into the rails that they attached to the insides of the cradle earlier.

They applied wood glue onto the top of the rockers.

Ron drew two lines on the bottom of the cradle indicating the placement for the top edge of each rocker.

Lynn positioned each rocker in place while Ron drove screws in through the bottom of the cradle, attaching the rockers securely in place.

5. Finishing touches: For a nice, clean finish, Ron wanted to add wooden plugs to cover the countersink screw holes.

Ron dabbed a small amount of glue into each countersink hole, then gently tapped the plugs into place with a hammer.

The final step, which Lynn was eager to try, was to give the new cradle a test rock and see how it worked.

RESULTS: Lynn was very pleased with Ron's latest project and couldn't wait to get it painted, dressed up with bedding and into the nursery. She was just in the nick of time, too! Just a few days later, Ron and Lynn had the privilege of welcoming Danielle Hazelton into the world!
