6. Final assembly They set the newly constructed cabinet sections in place and then secured them together with flat head phillips screws. They cut trim strips and attached these to the front edge of the cabinets to conceal the joints.

Use a power miter saw to cut the molding - or casing-that will be attached to the outside edge of the unit to give it a "built in" look. A wood filler is used to fill in the nail holes. Complete the project by mounting the cabinet doors, installing the drawers and setting the shelves into position.

RESULTS Rita began with a rather unsightly blank alcove in the wall. As the project unfolded step-by-step, she enjoyed the process but couldn't quite visualize what the finished entertainment center would look like. She was very pleased when it all came together at the end! Not only was the finished work beautiful but she enjoyed knowing that she had done a substantial portion of the work herself!
