Use a pin nailer to attach the miters at the two bottom corners of the frame. The top of the frame case is not attached until later.

10. Hanging the display case
The display case is hung using two strips of wood called mounting strips that each have a bevel cut on one edge. One strip is attached to the back of the display case with the bevel pointing down while the other is attached to the wall studs with the bevel pointing up. When the cabinet is hung, the top cleat nests inside the bottom forming a very strong attachment.

Apply glue to the back of the first mounting strip and press it in contact with the back of the case. Also attach the cleat with nails to ensure that everything is held firmly in place while the glue dries.

Place the other mounting strip on the wall, screwing it securely into the wall studs.

11. Acrylic
Before working with the acrylic plastic, put on gloves to protect your hands from the cut edges. Carefully slide the acrylic plastic into place along the top bevel leaving the protective covering on the plastic to make sure you don't scratch the surface.

With the acrylic in place, attach the top of the frame. Instead of glue and nails, use only screws for this final step. This way the flag can be easily removed if necessary by unscrewing the top of the frame.
