7. Accessories
Some seedlings also like warmth so you may want to add a heating pad to your bench. You can purchase one at your local home improvement store that is made just for the purpose.

In addition to light and warmth, it is important to make sure that the seedlings have the proper growing mixture. The best ones are soil-less, made up of sphagnum peat moss, like this one from Scott's made especially for seedlings.

To water your newly planted seeds, you may consider attaching a watering wand to your bench. You can buy one that is designed to connect directly to a spigot.

8. Planting
After adding the potting mixture to your trays, the seeds are ready for planting. Make a small depression with your fingertip and drop in just one or two seeds in each section. Cover each seed with a bit of the potting mixture and they should be ready to take root.

Place the trays on top of the heating pad and cover them with clear plastic covers that are designed to cut down on evaporation. Finally, lower the light fixture into the correct position.
