Position the groove of the second strip over the tongue of the first and then push it up tight. Press each strip firmly down into the adhesive as you position it.

Once all four sides are assembled, use construction adhesive and screws to attach each side to the legs.

Once all the legs and sides are attached together, you'll end up with a box without a bottom in it. With the planter lying on its side, attach the top lip by driving in screws from the inside. As with the table, apply sealer to the outer planter box.

The inner box or liner is built out of pressure-treated plywood. This is the part of the planter that will come into direct contact with the soil.

First assemble the liner box, drill a number of drainage holes through the bottom, and then attach handles so that the liner can be removed and replaced, if necessary.

The inner liner is supported inside the box by additional 2 x 2's attached on the inside.

Set the liner inside the planter, and cover the drainage holes with a piece of landscape fabric. The box is ready for potting soil and planting. A good quality potting soil is particularly important for potted plants. It is also important to select plants that are known to grow well in the area in which they will be planted.
