• With the beam in place, they turned their attention to the posts. Once again they started by installing a cleat. Luckily, there were wall studs just where they needed them and so they were able to make the attachment with wood screws. If they had not been so lucky, they would have secured the cleats with toggle bolts.

• As with the beam, they slipped the posts into position and attached them to the cleats.

• The final step to creating the post and beam illusion was to attach the diagonal knee braces. If you didn't know differently you'd swear these make believe timbers were the real thing.

RESULTS:

The Podwicz family could not have been happier. Even though they knew exactly what they wanted, they really didn't know exactly what it would look like when it was finished. The results were beautiful! Their home had that warm, rustic country feeling that they really enjoyed. Thanks to Ron, they may never want to leave home again.
