A standout product at this year's National Hardware Show is the Sim-Pull Hanger for wallboard. It's a very small pushpin-type hanger that uses a clever mechanical system to stay in place.
As it’s pushed into the wallboard, the hanger's legs flare farther and farther apart, biting into the wall. In this picture, a piece of clear plastic demonstrates what the Sim-Pull hanger looks like as it's pressing through a wall.
To use this hanger, pass the pin through a hook, and into drywall with a finger or thumb.
This small hook uses a single hanger and is rated for five pounds. The image at right shows the hanger holding twice that much weight.
A larger hook needs two hanger pins, and is graded for ten pounds. More than twenty pounds can hang from two of these pins.
Two pins can also hold this mounting plate in place.
Once it’s up, a plastic towel or coat hook slides over the top.
Don't try this with a simple push pin. Make sure it's a Sim-Pull hanger.
