10. Cut pipes and end caps

  • They cut off the excess from each pipe using a pipe cutter. This simple-to-use tool was especially handy in this hard-to-reach area.

  • Ron snapped the cutter over the pipe and the cutting wheel inside sliced through as it was rotated.

  • Finally, they installed copper caps on the ends of the pipes and the shelves were complete.

RESULTS:

The finished shelves were a great addition to young Matthew's room and a handsome alternative to more conventional wooden shelves.

Matthew was pleased with the finished result but also quite exhausted from a long, hard day's work. In fact, he was not up for Ron's idea of building a matching set of shelves for his brother's room…at least not for a few more years.
