5. Paint and glass:
Before inserting the glass, they applied a coat of paint. Ron explained that it would be much easier to paint first rather than after the glass was in place.
After allowing the paint to dry, Ron carefully dropped the glass into the frame.
Ron used what he liked to call a keeper strip, which was a little strip of painted wood that set in over the glass to hold it in place.
They attached the wood in place with very small brads that Ron attached using a brad pusher. On the end of the brad pusher was a magnet that held the small brad in place while Ron positioned it and then pushed it into the wood.
Four keeper strips held in place with brads was all it took to hold the glass securely in place.
After repeating the process on all four of the doors, all that remained was to install the hinges and hang the new doors on the cabinets.
RESULTS:
It was a long day, but in the end, Gina had the beautiful glass cabinet doors she had always imagined, a delightful reminder of this fun and rewarding experience. And Gina gave Ron something that he could also remember…an autographed copy of one of her books!
