On the wall I just completed there is plenty of counter space and storage for my tools. On the other wall I will put together another workstation, but is designed with the intention to store small parts and materials.
Once again, I begin with a sketch. It will consist of a series of shelves which will hold plastic boxes and bins. As well as base cabinets for extra storage.
To begin the shelves, draw a level line near the top of the wall the same way we did for the other wall.
The next step is a bit tricky if working alone, so here's a little tip. To give yourself an 'extra pair of hands,' drive a finish nail into the wall and set one end of the piece you are working with on top...
...this frees up one hand to use the driver.

Maid and the reason it is so flexible is that the entire
system hangs from this rail.
Just hook the ends of the standards over the bottom edge of the rail and slide them into the best positions...
...shelf supports then clip into the standards...
...set the shelves on the supports...
...then gage the hooks at the rear, and lock them in position.
Once the shelves are in place, I install a couple of screws in each standard to keep them from moving side to side.
With this system you can hang cabinets on the same standards used for the shelving.
This is especially useful here, since this concrete footing would prevent me from pushing freestanding cabinets up against the wall.
The right hand cabinet has drawers and the left one has shelving and doors. With this system a pre-finished counter is included and it simply rests on top. On the shelves I put plastic parts bins.
It is possible to have a workshop look this good and be functional at the same time. There is plenty of storage for all my materials and tools along with room to spare. As they say, a place for everything and everything in its place.
