7. Install completed frame:
Apply panel adhesive to the back of the frame sections, then use a pneumatic nail gun to attach them to the edge of the cabinets.
8. Bulletin board:
The bay that couldn't be used because it had plumbing inside was used, instead, for a bulletin board. They patched the inspection hole made earlier and then put construction adhesive or panel adhesive on the back of the corkboard and glued it in place inside the frame.
Two last pieces of trim covering the wall studs between the shelf sections completes this work of art. Secure these in place with a nail gun.
RESULTS:
It was great fun having the kids involved in building something for their own room. The older daughter definitely got the hang of using power tools! Ron asked the family to send a tape of the new shelves after they were painted.
The result was beautiful! Ron is willing to bet that when it came time to start painting those shelves, mom had more than a little help from the budding young artists in the family.
