I think the table is excellent. It would be very easy to make this a planting table with a removable piece to use for transplanting with a plastic dish pan to catch potting soil. Possibly a diferent piece to slip in the space where the removable top is.

When you attached the top brace to the 2 uprights, you did it with 5 screws on each end ..2 on each of the uprights and 1 in the middle of the two upright boards.. This 5th screw went in between to boards. I think this 5th screw has very little holding power and really is a waste !!

I too am looking for a way to get the printed plans, tools and materials list. NOt being a professional craftsman, it seems like this would be something needed for us non-pros. I am looking to have some volunteers put together something like this for a silent auction for an event to benefit our community center. I am an avid gardener and was at first excited about your potting bench/seed starting bench. To my dismay You only offer this in a video format. My problem is and I'm sure a problem for many people who do not have access to a fast internet connection. Living in a rural area we do not have broadband available except for wi-fi and that requires an expensive piece of electronics and a high monthly fee. Thanks a lot for something beyond my reach

I built a simular table some years ago, and instead of doing all the notching for the light fixture, I drilled two half inch holes about 3 feet apart in the top crossmember between the uprights, and suspended the light fixture by small chains which can be run through the half inch holes and using a 2 inch finish nail on the upper side of the crossmember through the links to adjust the height of the fixture over the plants. Pretty inexpensive, and it works great.

This project is fantastic, the only thing I was disappointed about was there was no approximate dollar amount posted at the end for the project. I really like to see that so when i do my build I can see how much I can cut costs .. LOL You seem to have a huge bank roll Ron, i don't get any kick backs or tax rides on these things after all. LOL I was thinking this would be a great bench for the Green House. I was also thinking it would be really cool made from the composite ( Plastic grained wood) but I priced that and it's way to high dollar for me to afford. I might see about collecting odds and ends from construction going on around here locally though, might be able to pick it up for chump change. my fav part of this unit is the adjustable lighting, this table is amazing really. I am sure a prefabbed one would cost a fortune.
