Great 'how to' video. This is a project that I'm going to tackle soon. Not a big deal, but you might want to check the videos for steps 4 & 5. They seem to be switched. Thanks for all the great instruction.

I find that a lot of paintable caulk do not have a lot of flexability, especially when putting up trim, for expansions in the walls. To avoid cracking I use a product called vulcan that will fill in spacing up to around 1/4 inch. I never have a problem with it pulling away and it stays flexible. I am sure there are a lot of products that will work the same and under a different name. For long term good results, just don't use any ordinary chalk.

This is how you do it if everything is square to each other----however , in old construction, this is not allways the case.----if something is out of square and not 90 degrees then you must measure the angle and divide it in half instead of using 45 degrees---I remember working on the exterior of a new bank --a Georgian style building where the facia and soffit had a return and to complicate matters more the roof extended beyond the gables---at one point there were 14 boards used combined on top of each other on the return --one of the crown mouldings had to be widened with a strip of board laminated to it and where the very complex angle met , we had to recarve that strip of crown with a gouge to match the complex angles---there were 4 carpenters on the job and an elderly carpenter foreman--the foreman assigned each of us a return and they all had to match and no wood putty was allowed.---amazingly everything turned out great---I never forgot that foreman and that was about 35 years ago--I was very lucky to have people like that n my life.

My living room comes with a moulding mounted directly into the wall at 45 degree without baseboards. Can I extend it without taking the entire moulding off and do it like Ron did in this article?
