I have a dual ceiling fan, it weighs about 20 lbs will I have to to put lag screws in the beam to hold this or what suggestions would you have?

How was the cost $300? Must have counted the 2 fiberglass lades, bracket and HD box. Would like an answer.

I have a question about the reverse - taking down a ceiling fan and replacing it with a light. I put in loft beds in my kids room, so obviously had to remove the fans so they wouldn't wake up in the middle of the night, sit up and end up getting hit with a fan blade. The fans had light kits, so there are double switches on the wall. One was for the light, the other switch for the fan. I put in a two light kit but only one of the light bulbs will turn on when I flip a switch. And, the other light switch doesn't do anything when it is flipped on. Hopefully that made sense. Any help?

Why didn't you put a light kit on the fan, seeing you took out a light.
