I liked the installation tips. I would have liked to see the tip on the molding a second time. Did you fill the nail holes in the molding with spackling and paint? and what happened with those small cuts about the door latch?????

Len Digati has a sharp eye and a good point; why not show us how to fix those small 'Bozos' that happen along the way to completion, Ron? Here's a tip: Insert the latch mechanism the OPPOSITE way and screw it in. This puts the metal closer right against the edge of the door for scribing and you still have enough of the latch plunger to center it into the hole in the door.

Great video, Ron. How did you ensure preventing the installed door from slowly opening or shutting on its own? Was that done by levelling, or was there something more to it? (I'm not very handy, so I hope dumb questions about gravitational pull are acceptable :-P).

Using wide masking tape at the top of the door for trim would help with not marking on the painted walls. Great video. the door brightens the whole room. DENNIS

If you have a glass door that is not etched, you can do it yourself and not have to purchased a new door. The craft stores have a product that will etch glass and you can use or make any design you want from contact paper.

John Montalbano Jan 22, at 9:37am OK, now how do you etch a door with glass that you have? Few ways to achieve this. 1. Apply contact vinyl; draw on design; cut design with xacto knife and remove vinyl for area to be etched. At Micheal's or craft store apply etching cream according to instructions. If your vinyl is strong enough - it can be sandblasted. 2. Is to apply computer generated design in vinyl that looks exactly like etched glass. If you would like to email me I can send you pix of our front door & sidelites, my wife's Hoosier cabinet & the wind-wings on my 1929 model "A". Also using this 2nd method it would NOT be necessary to remove the door, as recommended in the 1st methods. Chris - modelachris@gmail.com

This project certainly makes it easier for a novice or someone with limited carpentry skills. I would also be interested in seeing you hang a door in an existing frame since many cased openings are already the appropriate size to accept a door with minimal trimming. Many times you can buy a door that is already machined and you will simply duplicate the hinge and lock locations to the jamb. Love your videos. Always informative. Even though I am not a novice, I generally learn something new. Thanks for your site.

We had a glass door put in between our kitchen and dinning room and we love it. It makes both the kitchen and dinning room look larger and brighter. I only wish I could have saved some money and done it myself. Next time I will now that I know how. Thanks Ron.

Always enjoy Rons projects...but in this one there was an opportunity to show that everything doesn't go exactly right...note as the 9:36 mark when Ron chisles out the door latch he "chunks out" a piece above the score line...he doesn't address it and next shot shows the area has obviously repaired..but no mention of how...I think right there was an opportunity to show those of use who do make these mistakes, that if often happens and there are appropriate, non complicated fixes....

Ron Either I have been installing my door handles incorrect or you just put your handle on upside down. The handle should have the curve going down-not up. Love your videos It is really easy to correct the handle just remove the handle part from the base on both sides and switch them. I just installed 4 of them yesterday I got at a garage sale for 50 cents each.
