I wonder how well this product would work in a truss uplift situation? If the bead of caulk is necessary on both cieling and wall, I can't see it working well.

This seems like a great idea. My husband has been trying to finish our kitchen remodel for a long time so we can move on to hvac independence. I would really love to show him this video so that we can have the kitchen done and move on to our A/C unit. Thanks for the tips and video!

I came across this video while doing a search for DIY crown molding and am hopeful. I would definitely paint before installing. One query though: how "green" is polystyrene? Meaning, does it give off any gases over time? I would use the low VOC paint and primer, and the better adhesive, but if the product itself isn't that great for the air in the bedroom to begin with, I'm not sure if it's the route I want to take.

Wow, love the lightweight moulding. Love the fact that you didn't have to miter in the middle of the wall. Looks alot easier that way to only have to miter the corners. Neat!!!!

I am from South Africa, thx for the advice. Will be attempting this project for the bedroom this weekend. I have the same concern as some other users in the forum, I don't think my corners are necessarily 90 degrees...I think the same method used by Ron would apply to square his cornices, start with a 45 degrees cut and trim it as you fit them to the wall...either that, or I am going to need a lot of filling to cover gaping holes lol.

Ron, I saw this product demonstrated on your show earlier this year. As recommended by the manufacturer Creative Crown, I purchased the crown molding in 8 foot lengths which reduced the number of joints I would have in the bedroom where I was installing it. Everything turned out great. I used the manufacturer's adhesive and it worked great. Liquid Nails was not recommended.

In the newsletter, I did say that this molding requires no corner mitering. However, the video shows me cutting miter joints. My apologies for any confusion. You can avoid having to cut miters if you use pre-made corner blocks available from Creative Crown Molding. I've put a link to their website above.

Great idea for single do it herselfers. R.H. obtained his moulding from Creative Crown Moulding of Dallas. I wonder if I could find a comparable product locally, in Virginia.... I might try using this product in my sun room where the contractor left big gaps between the dry wall cut and the (what used to be exterior) windows. He wanted to charge me $$$$ to fix the gaps between the crookedly cut dry wall and window trim. Then, perhaps I'll tackle a room's ceiling instead of hiring a contracto, if it looks as good as it did for R.H..

I don't have any square corners in my house. It's a Florida house and has a lot of angles. Is there any fool-proof way to mitre corners? I'm truly a novice. I was an Army wife for 30 years so I'm not afraid to try most projects. Thank you for your help. Jill Ryan

Being a novice I would like to know how long it took the professional from beginning the project (setting up of tools) to end of project (admiring the job). Then I probably need to multiply either by a factor of 4 or 10 depending on the job and manuverability around the room. Did the professional remove any of the bedroom furniture to do this job? The video wasn't clear on that.

After watching the entire video, i realized that it's too much work and it's not easy at all. Two coats of primer, sanding and then the finish coat? That's too much work for me. I'm out.

How do you deal with eneven walls? That are not sheetrock, mine are handcut stone. If you don't want to cut miters, you can use styrofoam corner blocks, one company I found supplies them,, then all straight cuts..

As a retired alarm tech. I am familiar with the adhesive Ron used. Liquid Nails will harden onto any surface. A company tech. for a on-glass breakage detector suggested using L.N. and not use silicone glue. On my 4 oz. tube of L.N. reads "Contains cystaline silica. If sanding wear a dust mask to avoid breathing of sanding dust." Everyone, take a moment to read the instructions in the store. I do not have a dust mask at my home. H.D & L & A&T.V. will sell you that. I do not see Ron or you when you have that you are fighting silicosis, bronchitis, or cancer.

yeah- I clicked to watch this video to see how the "no mitered corners" worked....they are mitered corners. Not a huge deal, but maybe you shouldnt lead off the plug with "Made of polystyrene, it requires no corner miters..." if it's just not true.
