How to Make a Fountain and Pond from Natural Rock

I want a small tray type fountain mainly for birds. Is there someway to make a small pond with a spray/bubbler in the middle or on edge. Nothing elaborate (as much as I would love it, must be a doable do it myself type feature) in a rock-garden on the cliff edge

Steve "Ron, can’t see this weeks videos, my screen goes black when i hit the arrow so please check it out" I had the same problem last month, here and on some other sites. The problem is that something is messed up with the Flash Player on your computer. Reinstalling Flash Player WON'T fix it. The fix is here: http://forums.adobe.com/thread/906688 I fixed it on my computer (XP) by deleting the Macromedia folder which I found at C:\Documents and Setting\Owner (that's my username) \Application Data My experience is documented here: http://forums.adobe.com/message/4179215 The folder you delete will be rebuild when you run a Flash Player video.

I enjoy your videos, but have to say that I don't get a good signal here. With all the buffering I have to put up with, it would be nice if I can download the video & then watch it. Awfully frustrating the way it is now.

my comment follows David's... got the error msg saying i didn't type in the word code correctly. trying again. my original comment was to ask if your site has changed. i particularly wanted this information. the audio, video and text were intermittent and extremely frustrating. i never did get to see the full video. have not had this problem before with your site - which i love, btw.

Turned off my firewall and still only audio will play using the Seamonkey browser a Mozilla based browser like Firefox but with less baggage. Your A/V player appears to require a particular plug-in or codec that is not currently working for me. I had enjoyed your videos several weeks back, but something has changed. Would you please add a link to the appropriate "plug-in" so that I can install it. Thanks.. PS The audio plays fine...The video screen appears as a featureless dull blue -grey window

Couple of comments. One, I'd be very interested in the maintenance required of the pump, how and how often to check/clean/change the filter, as well as the same info on maintaining the pool itself. Two, re: Firefox not displaying the videos, check your add-ons. I use several ad blockers, including ad block plus and ghostery and found that I had to unblock Adsolution in Ghostery to allow the video to play. Takes a bit of trial and error with unblocking various items, but once found, it should continue to work without problem. Three, yes, the comment feature is very particular about including certain characters, including apostrophes, so leave them all out. When it errors, it doesn't preserve what you posted, nor is it very clear about what it didn't like. Hope that helps folks. Rich

It was nice to see that when we built our pond a few years ago, we did it exactly the same way and it really was a project completed in one weekend. Since we knew the fish would be in the Pond from the beginning, we dug 4.5 feet in depth. We added goldfish which grew to the size on my hand. In the winter, we added a pond heater. This allowed the fish to stay out there all year. In the spring, it was a joy to see our extended family swimming around happily looking for us to start feeding them again. After a hard day at work, the waterfall was very soothing to listen to and take all the stress away.

Long time "House Calls" fan!! I like the time, cost and difficulty denoting! Wish they would do that on the other DIY's. Also, I have Thunderbird email too, but I always "RIGHT CLICK" on the item in the email message, then choose "Open Link In Browser" for Ron, or any other content, and have never had a problem. Liked the fountain and the small pond. The suggestion I was going to leave before was that when building a foutain and pond like this you might want to also add a level indicator that can electrically open and close a valve and connect it to your water line. This keeps you from having to manually fill the pond all the time. Especially in arid areas. I would suggest hiding the valve and electronics in a below ground water meter cover. If planned ahead of time the power box could be installed above ground beside the below ground meter cover. Advanced planning is key to all projects that the DIY'er needs to keep in mind.
