I love this, but I'm glad people told you to move it from behind the stove! I plan on putting mine on the was across from the stove (still within reach in my narrow kitchen). That should make it far enough away to prevent the heat from harming the spices and also keep the grease and gunk from sticking to the bottles and the cabinet.

This usually happens when the video isn't fully downloaded on to the computer. You may have a slow computer and it may take a few minutes to download on to your computer. When you press play leave it for a few minutes and then press play again and it may continue to play without stopping

Looks good as always but I don't use a lot of spice in my cooking. My small rack is just fine right now but if I ever venture out to use more I will keep this in mind.

I love the spice rack my daughter could use it. You could even build what ever size you need large or small. I think a large size , as I know she could fill it full. Great job Ron.

Help, from an old woodworker, to any computer geeks out there! When I click on Ron's videos, they come up, I click on the start, after several seconds, it starts, then stops, then I click on it and it may or may not start for a few seconds then stops. Any idea?

may i suggest putting doors on this spice cabinet.ive been a housewife for many years,and though i do keep my spices in a cabinet near the stove i have them in a closed cabinet.i realize heat isnt good for spices,but many cooks go through them so fast that your ok there.with the cooking being done,grease travels and combined with dust equals a very gunky shelf and spice bottles with time.super hard to clean!its much easier to wipe down a cabinet door.also i think a cabinet that far above the stove would be hard to reach without a stool.that would be too much trouble for me.the shelf itself is great,good job!

Excellent project, but.... Over the stove is NOT the place to store spices. Spices will be ruined by the heat and humidity generated from cooking. Furthermore, spices will keep much longer if stored out of bright light. A much better place for a spice storage rack would be on the inside of a cabinet door where it would be accessible and away from heat, humidity and light. Since spices are light in weight, half inch plywood would be more than adequate in strength. Thin strips of wood to prevent the small jars from falling off the shelves would do the trick. I used such a system on the back side of a solid core door for storing liquor bottles in a living room bar. Just open the door and choose your poison; everything's clearly visible. I used three hinges to support the weight, and they've held up perfectly for over forty years.

I Love the idea and plan. BUT I am a long time cook and have found in my experience that spices over or near the stove ( heat) tends to make them harden up. You may want to move it to another place near your cooking area instead. Thanks
