Viewing Project in Kitchen > Cabinets > Painting & Decorating > Painting Techniques
I love your show.I just wish all my cupboards were white & each room was a different color instead of that dark paneling in my trailer....I own the Mobil Home but so much work for a single women to do.And dont have a clue where to start.
OMG.....I love your show....I wish my cabinets were a different color & the paneling in my trailer, but Im a single disabled women whos on a fixed income & dont know where to begin or how to do it.
Great video on kitchen cabinet painting. It's really important to emphasize that the kitchen cabinets have to be cleaned off from the grease. I also have a page on my website that can add to this information to help out people who are interested in having kitchen cabinets painted at:https://mississaugahandyman.co...
I was going to replace my cabinets until I saw this article last year. I followed Ron's instructions and repainted them instead of getting new ones. Wow, they turned out great and still look like new. I have received numerous compliments on them and they were featured in the local paper. Saved a ton of money too! The project has my personal endorsement.
Her name was Sabre Hill. His name was Scott Hill. From the transcript. Some time ago Ron did work for ABC's Good America. Back in those days he was the traveling fix it guy. In the beginning of this video a motor home was showing. He used to be in a custom motor home and traveled with 2 assistants who had a custom trailer. Someone got to figure it out and run for the extra stuff. I'm sure.
So are a lot of politicians!
I had the same expe i.e. de with Valspar! What's up with that?
I tried refinishing my cabinets. Sanded, primed (with oil based primer), painted with a Valspar kitchen cabinet paint. Within 6 months, paint started wearing around the knobs and pealing above the Stove top microwave. Now I need to redo, any suggestions? should I strip and start over??? or can i just paint over?. Also not a huge fan of Valspar paint, when used for walls or cabinets throughout the home, just doesn't seem to dry well, always feels tacky for months.
step 4 video is corrupted

Ron & Producers, your segmented video's are definitely a step in the wrong direction, with all respect. Robert Eaton
I find that Semi Gloss is an acquired taste. new taste testers should always start with Flat. ;)
Back in the old days when I was a security alarm tech. we used to start at the front door to number the windows for security screens on the edge. We would take down the normal screens and deliver them to a special company. They would rescreen the correct frame. More than 1 time the painters put all the screens in a pile and not be able to get the screens in the correct window. The tamper switch and magnet position were important. Draw lame pictures where needed.
Lowes and Ace Hardware carries Valspar too.Ron has a ?relationship? with Home Depot. Deeper than our $$$relationship.
Geesh, I was reviewing the comments, and found this is an old video. I replied with the same comment then! Looks like my memory is going, but my opinions are constant :-)
I guess this comes under the category "If we all liked the same thing, we'd all be married to the same woman", but in my eyes, I think it is a sin to paint over hardwood grain. I like to see the grain in my cabinets and guitars pop.
I did this with my kithcne cabinets - it surely made my kitchen look better - getting way from the what I call "1970 ties drab brown) Plus it did not take much time to make the change .... This saved me a lot of money ... Great tip Ron :)
I made the mistake of not priming new red oak door frames I made before painting them white. The red oak tannins bled through multiple coats of paint giving the white paint a reddish hue. To solve the problem I over primed and repainted.
Try Harbor Freight carries a couple HVLP sprays. A good buy for the money.
Corded drills? How old is this vid? Was the lady's name really Zebra?
Earlex makes great little, inexpensive HVLP sprayers that would do this just fine.
I am asking the same question that many others have asked with no reply. I am not able to play the videos - no problem on any other sites -, why???
Very informative ! I am in the process of doing this now. The video answered several questions. Thanks
Details, details. My guess is he did do it but doesn't have the time to put it all on the video.
See above reply.
Home Depot carries it. That's where Ron shops.
Dude, the wood was too dark. Don't you agree "after" is better than "before"?
Great tip Bro!
Watch the video Bro.
Great tip Bro. I was going to suggest the same thing.
Only if it is new, unfinished oak. You can go ahead and prime with no bad consequences. Let me know how it turns out.
You should get new hinges. I on't recommend painting brass hinges.
Great outcome, but you got away with only one finish coat of paint?
Great videos. I appreciate these how to videos. Especially for things like how to paint kitchen cabinets. Thanks again.
I understand that if we all liked the same thing, we'd all be married to the same woman, but I just don't get it. I saw the same thing on Ask TOH. Personally, I think it's a sin to cover up wood grain with paint.
My cabinets are 35 year old oak cabinets. Do I need any type of pre treatment for the oak? I heard the grain of the oak will absorb the moisture from the primer and paint and raise the grain.
I have never done this before. I have help putting new cabinets up but never painting them
Commenters are STILL waiting for info. about the sprayer! How 'bout a reply?!
1. Remove the doors and drawers BEFORE cleaning!... then take them outside. 2. Remember to utilize some numbering or reference system for the doors and drawers (I make a reference chart on paper and number the doors with a label made of painter's tape).
These are great videos and very helpful. I refer to them often when doing projects around the house.
the lady in the video needs to wear stilleto heels and a shorter skirt and go topless for results
