Great video! I need shoe storage in a closet that won't accommodate standard closet organizers. Is it possible to use wider shelving and let them protrude a little (2 -4 inches)?

Thank you so much for this video.This is a project i have been wanting for some time now. I would love to have mine from about two feet from crown molding and two feet up from the base boards.Now the trick is to get my husband to watch the video.

Thank you so much for making this video. Great idea!! My studs are 16 inches on center so my shelves would have to be smaller. I suppose it would fit into my super small house. I need to find all the space I can.

Love the idea and work; but I am still thinking about the outlet on a cork board. I think even though it is out of the reach of the kids, higher up may have been better.

If you have 16-inch on center studs, you can still put in wide spacing. Put a load-bearing header across the top, just as you would if you were installing a window. Then you are not confined to stud spacing.

Oustanding! I did this as a display area to my staircase @30yrs ago and it spread to several other areas of my house. It allows me to change the scenery of the rooms whenever I please without further damage to walls. It has been a constant source of entertainment for all of those years. My children love to change out trophies or pictures etc. from events and trips that we have completed. They in turn have taken the idea to their homes. Bravo!

I would like this in my bathroom. It is very small and not much storage. Perfect for shampoo etc.. T-cup hooks for body scrubbers etc..

It was a great Idea and luckily the wall studs were 24" oc. However most of the time the wall studs would be 16" oc and if they were located in a basement, I have seen 12"oc often. Being that it was a 2X4 interior wall, I think it may have been more practical to have built the shelves so they recessed in to the wall cavity the 3.5" and maybe stuck out of the wall about 2.5" or so to give you at least a 6" shelf. Then trimmed it out with some wide crown molding that they could have scalloped. As far as the electrical box goes, it should have been moved below the shelves and not placed in the cork board area at all. I think this may be a safety hazard around little fingers holding tacks and pins etc..... Just my opinion, over all it was a nice idea

NIce job, but those studs were not 16 on center as most wall studs are. The real challenge is debating whether with 16 OC is the 14.5" space wide enough between studs for you and if not when is it OK to remove a couple in order to get more open space. Also, is a 4" depth (really 3.5 ") really deep enough in most applications?

This is a great video that provides ample instruction! The only concern I had was why the outlet would be moved to the corkboard section as corkboards are used to hang things and kids could accidentally put a pin in the outlet.
