My Father did this back in the mid 60's and it looked Fantastic! A short story about this..when he had the boards in the garage drying from the finial varnish he had applied, a close family friend came over, and proceded to walk across the boards..leaving telltale foot prints. My parents decided to leave well enough alone, and put the boards up as is..and if one looked closely, they would see Harolds footprints walking across our living room cealing...Both guys are long gone, but I do hope the footprints have remained. I will have to ask the owners of my childhood home someday!

do i need sheetrock on the ceiling before putting wood on the ceiling, I have exsposed joist, Do I need to put up plastic?
