How to Repair Dry Rot in a Window Sill

Perfect. I've got about 6" of rotted frame at the bottom of a picture window to fix, and this is just the thing! I, too, didn't know about wood hardener until now! I'm wondering if it makes sense to fill part of the void with a block of wood before adding the resin, though. This part of the frame seems to want to be supporting the pane.

Thanks for that video I have a few that are just like that but two of them that are alot worse ..I have to do things myself don't have the money tp pay some one to do any of the many repairs ..It just kills me I am so overwhelmed

Problem being a multitude of windows to fix. I live in an apartment type house with 8 apartments. Most of the first floor windows have some kind of rot in the bottom ppart of the windows.I think my best bet would be to use the wood hardener and then use Bondo right over the existing (but now hardened)wood and then sand and paint and caulk .Thanks for the tip on the wood hardener though. I didn't even know that it even existed.

This is great. Thanks. My problem is more with the window itself. Due to condensation, my windows' frames have turned black and don't seem to take repainting very well. Is there something I can do for this? Can the thin wood trim that holds the double-pane windows be replaced with new wood without causing problems with the window?

Excellent advice. Actually seeing it done step by step is really worthwhile. Such rot often occurs in expensive windows made using both wood and uncoated metal structural components. The metal parts aren’t obvious and are said to add strength to the window. This is bad design. In time, these expensive windows will rot where the uncoated metal and wood touch. Ask about this design and avoid it when purchasing expensive replacement windows. A very effective, but much less expensive polyester resin filler than that shown in the video is good old Bondo, which can be purchased in any auto supply store.
