Ok i have a old home that has according type doors but my problem is the opening is wider then a 36" door with frame ?

Ron: The handle side of the door is beveled to clear the jam as it closes. Did the new door come already also?

This is kind of an outdated method for installing doors. Bracket installation systems are much easier and faster then using shims for beginners. There available at Home Depot in door aisle. Its called the Quick Door Hanger and is the same price as a pack of shims. Makes door installation as easy as possible, even for a beginner or pro.

This is more than I can do- I don't have all those tools. I just want a new door for my bathroom ( the dogs ate a hole in the one I have now)!! Is there a simpler option?
