Thanks for the tip about the dowel. That is the quickest and most effective way I have found to separate cut pane glass. Good work!

Hi Ron, I really enjoy your tips and thoughts for the day. However, on today's quote, I'd like to make two corrections. The author was William Jennings Bryan, not Bryant. And while you may have paraphrased the quote, it should actually read: "Destiny is no matter of chance. It is a matter of choice. It is not a thing to be waited for, it is a thing to be achieved." I have done it both way but I like some one else to cut the glass. That way if it should break They can make another one.

I have the double glass replacement windows also with a crack on the outside pane. Can i just replace the glass or do I have to replace the whole window? Does it count if I live in a warm climate like the south east?

Finally got around to fixing the window. Your video made it easy. A hundred times more useful than an article on how to do it. Total cost was about $15 in supplies, rather than the quote I got from a local glazier's: $85. So thanks again!

HI Ron, thanks so much for posting this video and illustrating the way to repair. I'm an amateur when it comes to fixing things around house. Just recently I broke a window pane on a french door. I was befuddled trying to figure out where the trim could lift off like so many videos prior to this one had informed. If I had come across your video sooner I wouldn't have sanded down the thick layer of paint in search for a crevice, which in turn only damaged the shape of the trim. This happened because there was no crevice to begin with! It's an old door and the sheet of glass had been glazed in, not simply held in by a nailed down trim the can be pried off. Thanks to your video I'm getting the job done. I recommend explaining that there are more than one way that a window pane might be placed in. Would have saved me a lot of time, and would have saved the trim frame as well. Thanks to your video my mother wont realize the glass was broken and all that for under $20 dollars.

I have a window that has a round hole in it with no breakage cracks around it. It is in the outer pane of a thermopane window. I had a suction cup bird feeder attatched there and I recently noticed the feeder on the ground and this hole in the window I always thought that glass when it broke would have sub cracks around the hole. Can you tell me why this window broke without cracks?

Is there any advantage to using the tapping end of the glass cutter after scoring the glass? Does it make the break smoother?

What about small pane in our front door? There is no glazing - the panes are held in place with wood molding - stained & finished. Break out glass? will that make it easier to dislodge the wooden molding on a couple of sides to allow forf new glass?
