Sliding Door Replacement - Foam Backer Rod in Expansion Gap Sliding Door Replacement - Cut shims Sliding Door Replacement - Low Expansion Foam
Be sure to leave a narrow expansion gap between the trim and the frame. Into this gap, place foam backing rod and fill the remaining space with silicone sealant. Inside, trim off the ends of the shims... ...and fill the space around the frame with low expansion insulating foam. (Do not use high expansion foam, which could distort the frame and cause the door to bind.)

Finally, replace the casing, starting with the top and then the sides. Touch-up the paint on the casing and trim as necessary. These new doors come with dual-layer, low-E glass, which provides superior insulation and UV protection. A variety of between-the-glass window treatment options are impervious to dust and the damage caused by children and pets. These windows provide shade and security exactly how you like it, when you want it.
