Leag Guard is a very good gutter. Leaf Guard told me that if it ever stopped up that they would come and clean. Ive had them for over a year now and they are still working. the inside corners has a little trouble.directing the water into the gutter. You have some overflow at this location. I have yet to see a video of a LeafGuard installation that deals with inside corners for roof valleys where the maximum amount of water shed can occur. If LeafGuard up to this task?

I see lots of honest, heartfelt questions posted here, and not one answer. I also need to install a new rain gutter system on an old house with a two story high, steep roof in Colorado where ice dams are a serious wintertime problem. I'm afraid the product you propose will make my problem worse while draining my finances. Any response???

they are great for warm weather, but cold, snow and ice cause lots of frozen water dripping and a safety concern of falling on a pet or person. i wish they made a easy to attach to shingles, heat cord/tape. please let me know if there is such a system. thanks

Got these installed earlier this year, and hurricane Irene put them to the test. They held up nicely, and worked as expected. Made me feel good they were on the house!

This might be good for leaves and twigs but when it rains, a lot of dirt can be carried into the gutter. Every gutter especially those that are not aligned properly will hold some dirt and will need cleaning eventually. Also in the winter, if you have major ice damps, this system will just help hold more ice and could possibly separate from the facia.

I'm a widow and have todepend on my kids to clean out my gutters....I have trouble with needles packing down in the gutter....could you show how the the leaf filter works.....Will that work for the pine needles?

Her in the north west we have pines on both sides of the house and the leaf filter is best for pine needles, the leaf guard systems allow pine needle to wrap around the hooded cover with the water, But the leaf filter does not. when they dry just brush them off. watch them on the leaf guard video showen in the nort west .for my money leaf filter is better.

I was very interested in this system but now im a little scared I am surrounded by pines and we clean the pine needles out every year and i am also wondering about the steep roof and heavy rain

I have only seen these demonstrated with a small water flow like a spring shower. I expect that with a steep roof and a heavy rain, most of the water will flow right over the top to the ground. The natural adhesion will fail if there is lots of water.

Hi Ron, This system isn't so great in pine tree country. The pine needles go with the flow right into the gutter and are a "B..." to clean out.

Hi Ron, I would only consider the LeafGuard gutter system in a warm climate. I live in Connecticut and the gutters produce monster icicles as well as ice dams. I really wish I had never changed from standard gutters. I would rather just pay someone to clean out the standard type gutters. I enjoy your website and e-mails very much. I just wanted to comment on my not so great experience with the LeafGuard gutters.

Hi Ron, the leaf guard system looks very good and would probably work super in a non-freezing area. Here in Utah, we get tons of snow along with ice build up on a roof. How could a person have this type of system without heat tape or how would you install heat tape so that it would keep from damming the roof with ice? Thanks, I look foward to every Sunday, so I can watch your helpful tips.

Hi Ron, Really like your site. We just had a system installed, but we went with a product called Leaf Filter. It's a closed system with a surgical stainless steel screen that allows nothing to get in but water. Life time transferable warranty, if it ever clogs you get a full refund & the system is removed. Comparable in price to others, about $20 -$30 a foot, goes over existing gutters that are reinforced every 5 feet, & can't be seen from the street.

Ron, I'm in the family home now some 3 years. My parents, while getting a new roof installed some 15 years ago, had a capping system installed on the existing gutters that perferates the roofing. Looks similar to the Leaf Guard otherwise and does the job in the same manner however, to keep the water tension idea working, I have to 'clean' the roll-over area of the gutter that normally directs the water into the gutter. Past experience has shown that when we get spring 'budding-out' on the Maples, etc, the gutter edges are like a magnet catching debris and causing rain to just pour off the gutter top; only a portion goes into the gutter itself until I eliminate the clinging debris. Another point never mentioned is that the design of these systems are an ideal haven for every wasp and yellow jacket nest. They seem to thrive anywhere along the system and apparently love the shelter the covered top provides. Just out of curiosity, has anyone gotten a price per lineal foot on the Leaf Guard system? How cost prohibitive is it? Thanks, Don

I have these gutters but I think there are better systems out there. With these gutters debee does get in, like pine needles and small leaves, and it is hard to clean them out when this happens. With other systems there seems to be better results with keeping debree out and if some does get in, which is inevitable in all systems, they are easier to clean out. Anyone who claims any system will never get clogged is not being very truthful.

Hi Ron, Love your work - I am a huge fan. My husbands question is: do they gaurantee the leaves will not go into the gutter and clog it? I saw one of the comments above about the cost being prohibitive. Do you think they will ever come down in price? Thanks so much. Linda

Ron, I recently looked into this system for my Father's house, he is 92 and still lives in the house I grew up in. I agree this is a wonderful product and know of people who have the system and are pleased with it, the problem is the cost, what I discovered is that the cost of the product and installation made this system cost prohibitive for him, I am sure many people could afford this and I am also sure a lot more in these economic times can't, They need to be more realistic regarding cost if they want to make this system the standard on homes across America. Thanks

Ron, Where we live ( in Michigan) we sometimes have problems with ice dams on our roof in the winter. Will the Leaf Guard system interfere with those or does the system have any way of dealing with ice dams? Thank you.

Ron, Do the leaf-guard systems work with gambrel style roofs? Whenever they are advertised they are only shown with normal pitched roofs. I have a three story gambrel colonial built in 1782. While the top of the roof is relatively flat, the pitch is very steep on the sections of the roof that flow into the gutters. Leaves and debris are a big problem in my gutters, but I do not want to make an investment into a product that will not work. Could you somehow demonstrate if the system will work in such conditions?
