How to Winterproof with Caulk

Dave with caulk

Once a year it's a good idea to do what Dave calls a caulk walk. Walk around the house, inside and out, and try to identify any areas that need calking or sealing up for the winter.

Make a list of all the areas that you need caulk, and then go shopping! There are all kinds of products, and a different product for every use.

If you're not sure what type of caulk you need, just read the labels. If you do this, your home will be more energy efficient, which will save you money!

And after all…caulk is cheap.
While we're on the subject of caulk, have you ever thought your caulking gun took up too much space in your toolbox? Apparently the folks at Loctite, who invented this one, have given that quite a bit of thought because they've made theirs a lot more compact. Once your finished you push in the plunger and actually fold the handle up, it takes up about half the space.
