How to Balance a Ceiling Fan

Ceiling fan weights

There's nothing more annoying than a wobbly ceiling fan. Did you know that there was a way to fix that? You can buy a blade balancing kit.

The kit is very inexpensive and comes with several different weights. One of the weights clips onto the blades and then the others have self adhesive on the back.

To use the kit to balance your blades, begin by turning your fan to find the speed where you get the most wobble.

Turn the fan off again and then attach the clip-on weight to any blade -- about halfway down. Turn the fan back on and see if it helps. If not, keep moving the weight to every other blade until you get the best results.

Once you've isolated the "problem" blade, then move the weight up and down the length of that blade (stopping and starting each time) until you locate the spot where you get rid of the wobble.

Once you have found the perfect spot, place one of the sticky weights on the back side of the blade right about where the clip-on weight was positioned.

Finally, remove the clip-on weight, turn the fan on and you're done. It's that easy!
