Moldings are unsurpassed for adding interest and architectural detail to an otherwise plain room or exterior. Traditionally they have been made of wood, but more recently, you can find molding made out of other materials like vinyl PVC. Like wood, moldings can be nailed, but unlike wood, they tend to resist splitting.

Vinyl can be cut quickly and cleanly using a standard blade and it is light enough that it can be even be glued in place.
If you're planning on trimming out doors, floors or ceilings, you owe it to yourself to at least take a look at vinyl.
