> How to Install a Programmable Thermostat
If you have an old thermostat, you might want to consider replacing it with a new programmable thermostat, one that will turn the heating and air up when you need it, and down when you don't, saving you a lot of energy and money.
The first thing you need to do is shut the power off to your heating and air system, then remove the cover to the old thermostat exposing the wiring. Each wire in the thermostat has a different color and a corresponding code.
Before you remove the wires, make sure you write theses codes down and label each wire.
Tip: Before you let go of the wires, make sure that you wrap them around a pencil to keep them from slipping back into the wall before you attach your new thermostat
Mount the new thermostat in place and attach the wires just as they were on the old one. Now simply snap on the cover plate and set the temperature!
