How to Use Wood Edge Tape

22 hacksaw blades

Veneered plywood, like red oak shown here, is an excellent choice for cabinet making projects, but has an unsightly raw edge that you wouldn't want to leave visible. A great way to conceal these edges is with wood edge tape.

This tape has a heat sensitive adhesive on the back. To apply it, you simply lay it over the edge of the wood and pass an iron over the surface. Next, trim the edges with either a razor blade or a special trimmer made just for this purpose. After a little sanding, you really can't tell it from solid wood!
