There are a couple of rules everyone should observe when it comes to using a table saw.
2
Keep your fingers as far away from the blade as possible and never push directly toward a spinning blade. That means for a cut like this, use a push stick.
3 The Problem with Push Sticks
There are a variety of push sticks around -- some home made and some store bought.
4
But they all have one thing in common -- to use them, your hand has to pass over the running blade in order to copmlete the cut, sometimes uncomfortably close to the blade.
5 A New Push Stick
Here's a new push stick design that's more comfortable, more controllable and most important of all, safer.
6
This push stick was deisgned by carpenter Kevin Elie. He married a conventional push stick to a saw handle.
7
Kevin's push stick allows you to keep your hand much further from the blade than most, gives you good control...

...and most importantly, it permits you to finish your cut without ever having to pass your hand above the blade of the saw.
