How to Keep Pliers from Leaving Marks

If you were to use locking pliers on a polished piece of metal such as a shower ring, you could be certain it would leave some pretty serious scratches and gouges. But there is a way to use this tool without leaving those damaging marks!

Take an old leather glove and cut off two fingers. Use these fingers as leather covers that you can slip over the serrated jaws of whatever tool you're using. You have just created a tool with a grip of steel… but with a velvet touch.
