Genie openers are not dependable at all. i have the same unit they instaled and have had problems beond problems. they should have gone with a Liftmaster 3280.

It is helpful even with two people installing the garage door opener because as Ron said the drive unit is heavy to have a good hieght 6-8 feet high step ladder and rest the drive unit on this is better in my mind than having the garage door open and suporting the drive unit and the runner as alot of garage doors are alluminum and could possibly bend slightly where the entire unit is being supported. I found this out at my cost when a friend installed a new garage door opener for me and he let the unit rest on the door it bent slightly, also it is a good idea to measure where the drive will be mounted and put the mounting angle iron in place to attach the drive prior to even lifting the opener up.
