When it comes to countertops, natural stone is a very popular choice. It has a classic and timeless look as well as a reputation for durability. But many stones, like marble for example, are subject to staining. Even granite has to be sealed periodically.

Now there is another choice. While this quartz resin countertop material looks just like granite, it's actually a manmade material made from 93 percent natural quartz and seven percent resin. What that means is a surface that's virtually non porous.

Quartz is resistant to most stains and never needs sealing. Because it's a manmade material, quartz resin is uniform in color and texture from batch to batch. This means that the sample you see in the store will look just like the one that shows up in your home.

Both quartz and granite make a great countertop material, but if you're looking for something that is absolutely maintenance free, then quartz is something you should consider.
